Love this Kono Bairei ‘Magic Dragon in Smoke’. I’ve been responding to this and re-working one of my collages..
Kono Bairei. Magic Dragon in Smoke. Ca. 1880 - 90. The picture was made based on a Chinese story about a magical dragon rising in smoke from an ink stone. The dragon was printed with metallic pigment, which has been oxidized and is difficult to see now.
‘It’s hot in the city..’ as Billy Idol sang, hard to believe when I was in the studio a few months ago wearing a jumper..
